Haradhan Karmakar. a metal caster from India, fascinated onlookers as he demonstrated his ancient tribal art of bronze casting last week at the University Museum. Karmakar, a member of the Dhokra tribe, was featured in a day-long event at the museum, during which he buili a kiln out of 100 bricks and cast six miniature bronze sculptures. Special Assistant to the University Museum Director Lee Home, who helped coordinate last week's event. explained the entire process of casting and described the artist's steps as he worked. Karmakar does not speak English.
